RESONATING

Here's the cover, with Jim Burns surpassing himself...

Meanwhile, anyone looking for some Nordic noir to read should check out James Thompson's terrific Finnish crime novels. Dark and deep, with all the poetic power of James Lee Burke, in a very different setting that comes beautifully to life. I've read Snow Angels and Lucifer's Tears back to back, and I'm waiting for those lovely Amazon people (actually a reseller) to deliver the 3rd book, Helsinki White. Marvellous.

I suppose you might tire of questions from fans on "when will the next book come out", as I doubt things can be planned so accordingly, but I can't help myself. Are you planning a sequel to your Tristopolis books? I've just read them both for the third time, and there's definitely a place to pick up, but I'm curious if that was just in case you thought of another story line later on, or if you just wanted to leave it as a cliffhanger? Perhaps answering that question would spoil the surprise if you do announce a sequel. I genuinely hope you continue this series, I found it absolutely captivating.

Hi Xylena! I like people asking about books not published yet. And thank you for reading these books three times over.

So, no plans for a third book, I'm afraid.

I have thought about it, to the extent of having a title and knowing what might happen, and where. But there are a few factors counting against it as a project: my publishers were not interested, after Dark Blood (or Black Blood, depending where you live, which is a very bad decision that I disagreed with), my publishers weren't interested in a sequel. It was originally planned as two books only.

I receive more questions about the Tristopolis books than the others, but the sales figures tell a different story. I can't currently afford to write a novel without a contract in advance - I'd have to go back to working full-time in a day job, and that would mean 2 or 3 years between novels. So something would have to change...

I'm not ruling it out, but it's not a project in the near future, for sure. Sorry!
