Paul Reynolds is a schoolteacher, an ex-commando, and occasional spy. It is the summer of 1958, and Paul is working for the ultra-secret DI27 agency, analysing atomic-weapon designs and evaluating threats.

But when he interrupts three killers attacking a stranger in Hyde Park, a maelstrom of danger and deception envelops him.

Now, with the KGB launching their most ruthless operation ever on British soil, it is up to Paul to get in their way and prevent the deadliest of disasters.

...I've been meaning to revisit the world of Paul Reynolds for some time, and here it is: another look at the 1950s (especially the technology) through the eyes of modernity.

Although neither this nor On The Brink could be called SF, I've nevertheless made them part of the same fictional universe as the seven Pilots books (plus various short stories), the near-future Josh Cumberland books, and the contemporary Case and Kat books.

(Paul Reynolds is one of Case's forebears. An older Case appears in one of the Ragnarok books. The Akazawa family make appearances across the centuries. One of the characters in the new book, The London Interception, is the grandmother of one of the characters in the Josh Cumberland books.)
