About Me

- Name: John Meaney
I grew up reading the mind-expanding science fiction of Heinlein and Norton, then Simak and Clarke and Herbert and Zelazny... SF fans can complete the list. What else could I do, but write books of my own?
As John Meaney, my current work in progress is a massive space opera, the Ragnarok trilogy. The first volume, Absorption, appeared in May 2010.
My previous books were the dark fantasy/gothic SF novels Bone Song and Dark Blood, and four hard SF novels: the Nulapeiron Sequence of Paradox, Context and Resolution, plus the standalone To Hold Infinity.
As Thomas Blackthorne I've written two violent near-future thrillers that also function as political satire, Edge and Point.
During my IT/training career, I taught business analysis and software engineering on three continents. Nowadays, I'm living in a Welsh valley and writing full-time.
I've trained in martial arts since I was a kid, primarily shotokan karate. I'm a trained hypnotist, so don't look into my eyes... And I adore cats.

I hope that one day you do a book signing in Atlanta, Ga, USA. I've read two of your novels as Thomas Blackthorne and you've quickly become one of my favorite authors.
Thank you so much! It's a couple of years since I've been in the States at all, so no holding of breath - though of course I'd love to visit Georgia. (Last trip was to Florida, in fact, so pretty close...)
